as I only had one response to my question regarding the travel tins I didn't even need to draw a name out, so this freebie was quite easy. Many thanks to Denise Hallion of Maitland S.A for your response it is much appreciated.

Anyone Interested?

In these Travellers Tins (great to take with you on holidays or camping trip) filled with 6 oz of your favourite scent?

I am only looking at this stage to see if its viable to have on the site.

What I want to know is, what is your favourite scent including scents to clear the sinuses or maybe a citronella to keep those mozzies away?

The burn time is roughly 40 - 50 hours and the cost would be around the $8 - $12 mark.

If you could leave a comment (or even email me) I would truely be grateful and if I do decide to stock these then anyone who leaves a comment who go into a draw to win one of these candle tins.

March Newbies

I don't know about you but I thought our summer was pretty much so so, what ever happened? sure we had a few hot days but nothing I would call overly hot (well not here in S.A). Oh well, with the weather being so unpredictable at the moment we may have a few more hot days yet to come.

Anyways on with the show because no one really wants to read what I think, I know you are only here for the new items lol.

I am quite proud of myself as these prim signs turned out very .... prim. I am getting alot braver at experimenting with the whole distressed look and my signs are definately showing it.

I have had these Mason Jar beauties on the site for a few weeks now, something I wouldnt normally do until I add other items but there you go! For those that have not yet seen them these next pics are for you.

On the left is a Mason Jar Tea Light holder with a star cut out lid, on the right is a nice size Mason Jar soap dispenser.

Next are two different types of Tart Warmers, the one on the right has a rusty finish and the one on the left is very much like the Paul Revere type warmers, both use a tea light to melt the wax.

Unfortunately I will be reducing the price on the Paul Revere kind because the paint on the handle is chipping slightly, nothing that a permanent marker wont fix :)

In the wax department I have added these really cute rag balls, they would look great in a rusty pan sitting on your sewing table or favourite bench..... and this blackened pillar with twig stars ..... hmmm delish.

Coming soon, more prim melts ... hang tags, a couple of presidents and

candle holders.

New Items for February

Before I try and tempt you all with my new wares, there is something that I would like to get off my chest.
I will try to make this quick and hope at the same time I do not offend anyone.

Lately I have had a few sales that ended up being a "no go", meaning that I have bundled an order together, weighed the order, sent out an Invoice and that is it, no reply, no payment. Now I understand that this is part of business which I am more than fine with, its the no response to the invoice and the few emails I send out later asking customers if they would still like their goodies that is frustrating, (only because I haven't mastered the knack of reading minds yet lol).
I also understand that we all change our minds sometimes, I do it quite often when out shopping and unlike a website if I do change my mind I can simply put it back. I also realise that by the time you receive your invoice from me that financial circumstances change and one might not be able to afford their latest splurge. Again, and I cannot say it enough, I am totally fine if one does change their mind, all I ask for is a reply to my emails saying that the items are no longer required. It certainly keeps me from wondering if you even receive my emails in the first place.

However, being only human, some would feel more comfortable to not say anything at all, so with that in mind I've decided to wait until payment has been made before I pack any orders, this will save packaging materials, tape and satchels etc going to waste when I have to reopen them to put the items back on the "shelf". I dont charge my customers any extra for packaging materials, so I cringe when I have to throw such materials away, unable to reuse them.
How will this affect you?? well it might delay postage just a little. Before, as soon as payment was made I was able to go straight to the Post Office. Now however, only once payment has been made will I then bubble wrap everything, put the items into a box or satchel and then send your parcel. I do apologise in advance if this causes any inconvenience but I am sure you can appreciate my dilema which makes this new policy necessary to keep my prices as low as possible.

Ok now with that yukky bit out the way, I have restocked....

I also hope that your Christmas and New Year was productive and you celebrated just the way you like to.
Mine was just fab, thanks for asking, spoiled rotten as always :)

I have some awesome goodies to add to the site, 2 boxes worth actually and I am still waiting on another 2 boxes that are still in transit and one order still in the making.
My issue is, .. do I add everything in one go or space it out over a few months? I guess it depends on time and... well time.

I have added a new category to the site called Mason Jars as I am getting quite a variety of these, so having a separate category will help find them quickly.

So .... first up is this really cute ornie, yes I know we are no longer decorating for Christmas but my shipment took longer than expected and now I am left with Christmas Decorations after Christmas :)

Next to it Is a Mason Jar Tart Warmer. These are non electric so you will need a tea light.

Oh, these are just adorable, they are called Everlasting Candles and are handmade by us.

Another Christmas ornie, although these candle clips could be used all year long.

A mini Candle Reflector Lamp and its replacement candles

A wooden salt box house and Hanging Whimsical Stars (battery opereated taper is included).

Ok I think that will do for now lol.
I reckon I will add a few more items over the month, rather than wait until February, I'll update my 'coming soon' list so you will have a fair idea what I have to offer.

I am also very excited as I have 4 large boxes coming from the states, some of those items are to restock the farmhouse bowls, jumbo melts and the 14" revere lanterns.

Just a quick one today because I know how busy this time of the year can be.
I have yet again added some new interesting items to the site and I cannot do that without letting you guys know first.

To the Chrissy Category I have added this cute blackened Santa that sits inside his own grubby ditty bag.
Next to him is a snowman bag that comes with a small bottle or room spray, large Christmas tart and a homespun candy cane.

Don't you hate the smells that raw onion, garlic and the likes leave their odour on your hands after cooking?

Well.... these Farmhouse Soaps are made especially to help minimise those odours, and they look prim enough to leave out by your sink.

Ingredients include coffee granules, cinnamon, molasses and more.

Next up can be used for Christmas or leave out all year long.

These are called Candy Apple Tapers, they have been dusted with cinnamon to give them that grubby look we all seem to love, tied with homespun and to finish them off a rusty bell is added.

This candle holder is to die for, Ive decided to keep one myself, however I still do not know where to put it lol. Oh and the battery Operated Taper is included.

Lastly is this welcome sign that is handmade by us, every prim home should have one.

I'm hoping to add a few more signs soon as well as some preloved items to my Raggedy Rummage category.

They say a change is as good as a holiday

Well it is time!!
My little secret that I have been keeping since July is about to be revealed.

If you haven't yet popped over to my site recently then please do so very soon!
You see, not only do I have several new items to share, I have also swapped my website host over to another, so... the site kinda has a new look.

Yes this was my exciting news that I kept from you all, .... well.... exciting for me anyway lol.
I now feel that the site will be easier to navigate and it has different features that I felt was needed in a site. I'm very happy with the outcome and although I expect some teething problems I'm hoping that things will run pretty smoothly.

Ok now for the best part ...

NEW ITEMS!!

First up is a gorgeous 8" Paul Revere Lantern , next to it is a 14" Lantern

These are non electric, perfect for my Aussie customers.

These Chenille Dish Cloths are to die for, they are literally the next best thing since sliced bread!

A friend made some for me and I loved them that much I am now offering them to you.

The same talented lady also made me these Pin Cushion/keeps

available in three prim colours.

Next up is something I have always wanted for my own home, I would often see them in magazines

and felt they add the perfect primitive touch.

They add a nice prim touch to the centre of the table, plate rack, benches etc.

Now something for the grubby candle lover.

I have some more grubby tapers coming, selling by themselves and as combos.

Does your wash room or kitchen need a bit of prim?

This is a glass soap dispenser with grubby cheese cloth tied around.

and a lil ornie for the Christmas Tree or it can be used for all year decorating.

and lastly

These sprigs are 26" perfect to add to a vase or along window sills.

I think that is pretty much it.

October's New Items Have Arrived

Before we start I wanted to let you all know I have restocked the Jumbo Tart Melts and the Mason Jar Taper Holder.

I have also added a Mason Jar Tea Light Holder

Next up I have added several Battery Operated Tapers and Tea Lights In various colours.

The Tapers are available in Burgundy, Black and Mustard and the Tea Lights are availablle in Black, Burgundy, and I have restocked the Brown (Please note that these Tea Lights now have an off and on switch instead of the push off and on button, which is more user friendly)

For the Vintage Baby Boot Collector, and I know you are out there, I have added these adorable Grubby Booties made from darkened bees wax ... very prim.

Dont go just yet because there is more!!!

And ...

Ok thats about it for now.

However even though all of my shipments have been received, I still have items I have not yet added, so if there is something you are wanting please let me know.

Also to finish off I wanted to give you all heads up that you will be hearing back from me very shortly, because, if you remember a few months back I mentioned something exciting will be happening in November?

Well, because I am very impatient I have decided to bring this date forward a little.

I am hoping by the end of October all will be revealed hahaha.

September's New Items at Prim-n-Raggedy

I know I'm early this month but I have received a few more shipments and figured why wait till mid month to add them.

Halloween is just around the corner so I've decided to add to my Halloween category.

First up are these really cute Candy Corn Bowl Fillers.

Perfect on their own or you could even add them to some Halloween Melts like these...

Or these .........

Actually, these Putka Pods are scented in Candy Corn, so they would be ideal to blend together.

Now all that searching for Tart Warmers has paid off because I found this cutie.

It's a lot bigger than what I thought it was going to be, but that's a good thing right?

I am probably getting carried away with these battery operated candles but I just love them! So..... I have just added some more Tea Lights. These are wax dipped and have a slide "off and on" switch on the bottom.

Here's a little secret.... I'VE GOT MORE COMING! lol.

After I ordered this next item I found out that my supplier has discontinued it, so once sold, that's it!

Its great for wrapping around candles, gifts or maybe your craft project needs a final touch?

New Goodies for August!

A couple of shipments have arrived so I thought I'd get busy and pop a few things up.

Firstly, if you are a crow lover then you will just love these!!
The Grubby Taper is included with the holder, bargain!!

I also came across these Long John Baskets, thought they would look great hanging from a peg rack (so I kept two for myself lol )
Available in brown or burgundy.

Now look closely at these Grungy Battery Operated Tea Lights because they are not your every day, average Tea Light ... why?

Well there is a little sensor on the top, and if you blow really hard it will turn the tealight off.

You can also turn it off by the switch on the bottom.... soooooooo cute.

I have also added replacement batteries for these Tea Lights to the supplies category.

Next up is this gorgeous Prim Book Light.

The clip part is metal and it comes with its very own Battery Op Grungy Taper.
Would look awesome sitting by your beside.

If these dont make you go awwwww then I dont know what will cause these Birdcage Tea Light Holders are really really cute.

Comes with it's very own Battery Op Grubby Tealight.

Lastly I came across some more Slim Tapered Candles but in a Caramel Colour.

These also look great hanging from a peg rack because their wicks are joined, you could tie some homespun around them for that extra bit of primness. 99c for a set, these are a great price.

I was hoping to get some items up this week, but unfortunately I have fallen ill once again with the dreaded flu.

(pleasures of working in child care me thinks)

So I decided while under the influence of Advil to type this quick, brief message, that despite how awful I am feeling I am quite excited because I am waiting on 7 shipments (from 7 different companies) full of prim goodies getting delivered sometime this month.

Three out of the seven are from companies I have never bought from before, the other four are from companies that I usually buy from either because I need to restock certain lines, or because I felt their new lines might sell well on my site.

I do have a "Coming Soon" list on my blog if you are wondering what some of these items could be!

Go on take a peek, you know you want to!

When do I plan to have some of these goodies up ?

New Items for July

Long time no hear !! ... and yes I do realise I totally skipped by June's New Items, but time and health were not on my side.

You see, I'm actually working on something exciting (more so for me and the site than you guys...sorry, but, I promise I will try to make it just as exciting for you too) hopefully all will be revealed sometime in November!!.

So as the days of June were passing by, I kept telling myself, I will pop the new items up today, and before I knew it the day was gone and the end of June was fast approaching. By then I became unwell and didnt do much at all *sigh.... and, now, here we are LOL.

With all that said I'm back to "normal", eager to get a few new items up onto the site.

First up, we have added our Primitive Peg Racks, handmaded by us.

They come with either 4 or 5 pegs and handpainted in antique black or bugundy.

For lovers of Punched Tin, these Candle Holders are just gorgeous. They would make a great gift or better yet buy one for yourself.
The dishes on these Candles Holders are quite deep with ample room to add some prim fixins if you wish.

As an added bonus I have included the grubby candle.

I kinda felt that it was time to add to my Tart Warmer category. And, I might add, it was no easy job trying to find something that was both prim and non electric. These are quite cute and good value for money.

May's New Items

Firstly, I hope all you Mummies out there had a wonderful Mothers Day and that you were all spoiled rotten!

This year I requested no gifts, instead I wanted to go out for tea and .... for the kiddies to play nicely and to not fight. Well my wish was granted, the kids behaved nicely and we all dined at one of my favourite bistros.

Despite my requests about the gift giving, my partner managed to slip some money into a card to pay for my airline tickets to Melbourne, woohoo.

So tickets are booked for June, I'm taking my daughter plus a friend and her two girls.

Cannot wait!!

What's New At Prim-n-Raggedy?

I have been quite busy since I last posted making a couple of Primitive Signs and a range of Shelf Sitters/Blocks.

I found I enjoyed putting together these little sets so much that I would like to invest in some more stencils.

Halloween items just added

I thought I would share with you some items I have recently added to my site .

They are mostly Halloween items, cos ... well... Halloween is only around the corner! :)

And even though we Aussies do not heavily celebrate the season, some of us prim crafters love making pumpkins and witches and the usual Halloween item.

So here are my hand mades, plus some candle boxes from the states.....

Hopefully more Halloweeny (is that even a word?) items are to come within the next few weeks, plus some more goodies from the states that I have not even seen in OZ. Although that is not to say they are not available here, just I haven't seen them. :)

What is Primitive?

I get this question quite often whenever I mention my website 'Prim-n-Raggedy'.

I have to admit I sometimes find it difficult to explain to folks what Primitive is and why I like things to look old and grubby.
I mean....., why would anyone want something old looking when you can easily buy something that looks new?

Primitive to me is a piece of history, during the times when people didn't have money to buy new things and therefore had to make do with what they already had.

Torn clothes and dolls were patched back together, quilts were sewn together using scraps of fabric, wooden toys were handcrafted from broken furniture and household items looked worn and old.

Today artisans and designers go out of their way to make things look like they did back in the days of yesteryear. To accomplish this, and get the right look can be challenging, but nether less very satisfying.

Why do I love the look of yesteryear?

Because I feel the love, warmth and memories with each simple piece.

But most of all because it feels like home.
